Why You Should Read Jooyeok

Some people, after reading a little of Jooyeok, may think it all sounds the same, finding it neither particularly exciting nor engaging. These individuals might even foolishly question, “Is Jooyeok truly that important?” Such thoughts stem from failing to grasp its profound significance. Jooyeok contains the unseen yet vital stories of the universe—guiding us to know the cosmic path, live in harmony with it, and return to its flow.

This lack of appreciation arises because they have yet to understand the principles of nature. People often fail to realize that nature’s laws are far more valuable than their own thoughts. Consequently, those who cannot perceive this wisdom may find Jooyeok dull and quickly lose interest if its teachings do not immediately captivate them.

An Unexpected Question

A few days ago, someone came to me privately and asked, “Why should we continue to study Jooyeok? Could you explain it in a way that’s easy to understand and relatable?”

Even though I knew giving a straightforward answer might not satisfy them, I sensed others might have the same question. So, I decided to explain it as simply and clearly as I could, using the following story.

The Parable of the Thief

“Once upon a time, there was a thief in a village—a village with only one thief. Every day, he would steal valuables from others’ homes, selling what he could and keeping items too valuable or personally desirable to sell. Over time, his house became filled with treasures.

Oddly enough, this thief was the most anxious person in the village. Each night, he nailed shut his windows and blocked every possible entrance to his home. While others were busy with their own lives and had little reason to worry about theft, his entire existence revolved around his crime. His life was consumed by fear of losing what he had stolen.

At first, his main concern was how to steal. But as his stash grew, his focus shifted to how to protect his stolen goods. He began to wonder how many thieves existed in the village and who they might be, believing this knowledge would help him protect his possessions.

One day, he secretly came to me and asked, “How many thieves are there in this village?”

I whispered back, “There’s only one thief here—it’s you. No one else is stealing.”

Upon hearing this, the thief was overjoyed. Others might worry about being robbed, but he no longer had to. Why? Because he could freely take from others without any fear of losing his possessions to someone else.”

The Message of the Parable

Jooyeok is much like this story. You can live without understanding Jooyeok, but knowing its teachings allows you to live with peace of mind. It frees you from unnecessary worries and lets you use your energy fully. Without understanding the mechanisms of the universe and your place within it, you might worry unnecessarily, like the thief.

The Concept of Jeong (精) and Shin (神)

The term Jeong (精) refers to energy converging toward a central point, much like a drop of water on a glass surface forming a sphere. This focus creates clarity and power. The term Shin (神), on the other hand, represents the diffuse, universal energy. Through Jeong, we concentrate Shin into a potent force capable of creation and transformation.

For example, a magnifying glass gathers scattered light into a single point, generating heat and enabling new creations. Similarly, our Jeong, when aligned with Shin, allows us to direct universal energy effectively. Without this focus, life becomes scattered and disoriented.

Conclusion

Jooyeok teaches us to align with the universe’s rhythms, harness Jeong, and work harmoniously with Shin. By doing so, we eliminate needless worries, focus our energy, and live with clarity and purpose.
