The Secret of Transforming Fertilizer into Fragrant Fruit
What is vision? It’s creating something useful from what seems useless. Everything in your mind was once useless. Use exactly that.
Use it. Discover work. And act. Through your own actions, you’ll understand what sacrifice means.
Imagine leaving home in good spirits one morning to find dog droppings at your doorstep. You’ll likely grumble on your way to work. To you, it’s certainly filth. But consider a maggot living in your drain, crawling past your door on its morning commute and discovering those droppings. If this maggot’s family were Christian, it might rejoice: “Glory to Heaven, abundance on Earth! Oh, Jesus Christ!”
Everyone considers manure filthy. But compare fruits from trees that received fertilizer with those that didn’t. Fertilized fruit grows abundantly and tastes better. Unfertilized fruit yields poor harvests and lacks flavor. It has no fragrance. For fruit to be fragrant, it needs proper fertilization. You must understand this: the delicious taste of fruit was, until recently, manure. When you enjoy fruit, you’re essentially enjoying transformed manure. Until now, you’ve believed manure was dirty and fragrance was good. At meals, you try to pick only the best side dishes. Such selective eaters need to be spread like fertilizer.
How do I become fertilizer? You must discover this quickly. You must personally become fertilizer. When you go home, think about how you can be fertilizer for your family. Think about how you can be fertilizer for our society. When you find and do this, when you become that foundation, after three or six months, it transforms into fragrance. That’s when vision truly emerges.
I’m teaching you vision so you can live well and fully enjoy this world. Don’t limit this vision.
